Practical, Luxurious And Unexpected | The Work Of Interior Designer Rachel Laxer

Rachel Laxer is a dynamic interior designer with a rich international portfolio. Laxer’s signature design philosophy is based on the principle of “relaxed elegance,” fusing the chic with carefully curated art pieces. The practice works with clients from all walks of life including professional athletes, sports team owners, financiers, entrepreneurs, internet executives, lawyers and artists.

Fundamental to the way Rachel designs is the position of art within the home. Inspired by existing collections and exhibitions, her finished aesthetic is informed by creative expression. Working collaboratively with talented artists, she creates unique pieces in a variety of mediums. The core of all Rachel Laxer Interiors are a synthesis of decorative wall hangings, vintage discoveries and bespoke creations, never at the expense of comfort or functionality.

Rachel’s unique background has influenced her exceptional design and business panache. Her previous career in Emerging Markets and Trading at the firms of investment legends George Soros and Michael Steinhardt took her to far and interesting places. It was when she relocated to Tokyo with her family that her interest for design flourished.

Inspired by the surrounding Japanese aesthetic and subsequently relocating to the UK; she pursued her new career. Rachel worked for interior designer Kelly Hoppen, before setting up her own design studio in 2007.

“The core philosophy of my design practice is combining the practical, luxurious and unexpected. My artistic sensibility is derived from my various international work and life experiences. I strive to create unique interiors marked by meticulous bespoke design details, furnishings and functional art”, says the designer.

Rachel has an undergraduate degree in Political Science and History from Washington University, and an M.B.A Degree in Finance and International Business from New York University. She is a qualified member of the British Institute of Interior Design and a BIID registered designer and the American Society of Interior Designers. She is featured on the House & Garden “The List”. Rachel has been recognized by a variety of publications, including the prestigious Andrew Martin Review in Aspire Magazine. Her work has been featured in Interiors Magazine, Contemporary Living in the Mountains and Timeless Architecture and Interiors to name but a few. | Facebook: rlaxerinteriors | Instagram: rlaxerinteriors
