Cape Weligama | Celebrating 150 Years Of Ceylon Tea With New Luxury Spa
Cape Weligama launches its new spa with a tea-inspired wellness programme to celebrate 150 years of Ceylon Tea
Sri Lanka’s leading coastal resort, Cape Weligama, has unveiled its new spa along with bespoke spa and fitness packages plus an exclusive partnership with neighbouring Barberyn Ayurveda Resort. These enhanced wellness offerings come as Cape Weligama, the second hotel from Resplendent Ceylon, celebrates its third anniversary.
Opening this month, The Spa Sanctuary comprises four treatment rooms, one double and three singles plus extensive fitness facilities including a fully equipped gym with TRX suspension equipment. In addition to signature treatments including Hot Lava Shell massage, Quench Hydration facials, Life and Rejuvenation Ceremonies and Bamboo body scrubs, Cape Weligama’s experienced wellness team offer Hatha Yoga sessions, wellness clinics under the guidance of a personal trainer and mellow Surf and SUP sessions and lessons.
Working in partnership with Thémaé, whose products and therapies are inspired by the art of tea, the spa will celebrate Cape Weligama’s location and its Dilmah Tea heritage. A powerful antioxidant with anti-aging and calming properties, Thémaé’s signature 4 teas elixir of white, green, black and red tea is incorporated into treatments helping stimulate circulation and detoxification. Organic home-grown Sri Lankan spice scrubs made from clove, nutmeg, sweet orange and sandalwood compliment oils to relieve stress and attend fatigued muscles. In-room and al-fresco treatments at secluded spots are also an option for guests.
For those looking to further their wellness journey, Cape Weligama’s extended wellness offering will include authentic Ayurvedic immersions and dedicated fitness, surf and yoga-based packages:
Cape Escape Fitness Camp
Dedicated three, five and seven-day fitness programmes will be launching under the guidance of Cape Weligama’s resident personal trainer and enable guests to continue their fitness programmes at their own level once back home. The three-day De-stress and Disconnect Programme will include dosha-balancing yoga, meditation, guided walks in the forest and cookery lessons whilst the five-day Re-boot Programme combines balancing rejuvenation and high intensity fitness training. The seven-day Fitness Focus programme is tailored to guests looking to achieve body-fat reduction and increased fitness levels with intensive HIIT, TRX and fitness training, strenuous hikes, cycling and water aerobics.
Sun, surf and yoga
Moments from Cape Weligama, Weligama beach is home to some of the best surfing in Sri Lanka. Cape Weligama’s three, five and seven-day ‘Surf, Stand-up Paddle Boarding & Yoga’ programmes vary according to the Swell but combine mellow sunrise yoga, surfing on the bay, tailored Thémaé treatments and sunset sea-facing meditation from Cape Weligama’s cliff-top coves.
Ayurveda introduction programmes
These three, five and seven half-day programmes will allow guests to benefit from expert consultation, diagnosis and treatments practiced by highly skilled Ayurvedic doctors and therapists at neighbouring Barberyn whilst enjoying the luxuries, comfort and world-class service Cape Weligama has become synonymous for. Just a short walk along the beach, guests will begin with a consultation by one of Barberyn’s expert physicians who will advise on diet, therapies, activities and exercise tailored to the guest’s respective Ayurvedic nature. This will determine their Ayurvedic journey and act as an induction to Ayurveda.
Tailored Ayurvedic tastes
In order to fully benefit from their daily half-day sessions, Cape Weligama will be offering guests the chance to indulge in accompanying Ayurveda-inspired cuisine at their signature restaurant, Ocean Terrace. Menus will be compiled incorporating all ‘Ayurvedic tastes’ allowing guests to choose dishes suitable to their suggested diet and doshas.
