Bringing The English Country Garden To Bath | Abbey Hotel
Abbey Hotel is bringing the green of an English country garden to the centre of Bath
Abbey Hotel is bringing a glorious English country garden to the heart of Bath, as it transforms part of North Parade into a bright and leafy summer terrace. With a summer-long celebration of all things food and drink: alfresco feats, foodie events, pop-ups, Terrace Takeovers, food pairing pop-ups – all washed down with a signature English Garden cocktail.
The English Garden is the quintessential terrace cocktail for 2017. A delicious blend of Chase GB gin, elderflower liqueur, apple and lime, the cocktail has been designed to ensure a healthy dose of sunshine all summer. The English Garden sets the tone of what’s to come for thirst-quenching; more craft cocktails from Chase Distillery, English sparkling wine from Lyme Bay Winery, Devon and Nyetimber, Sussex.
Meanwhile, a brilliant new menu from Head Chef Rupert Taylor, brings his distinctive culinary style to the terrace. Rupert’s menu for the summer terrace turns eating into a sociable affair – with British grown ingredients at the forefront. Expect light dishes: courgette and charred asparagus summer salads, heritage tomatoes with sherry vinegar and duck and lemongrass kebabs.
There are classics – steak sandwiches, aged Aberdeen angus burgers – all accompanied by the finest salads. For pudding, Pimm’s jelly with fresh fruit or homemade elderflower fool celebrates the best of British. Rupert’s natural culinary style brings beautiful flavour combinations and clean lines to the table, the perfect combination for relaxed long lunches and summertime suppers.
For guests seeking a touch of the unexpected, a series of pop-up terrace takeovers, live music and visiting food and drink experts will appear throughout the summer, ensuring there’s never a dull moment. Expect to sip vodka with master distillers and clink glasses with Great Western Wine.
True foodies should look out for Rupert Taylor’s monthly Supper Club, offering a rare opportunity to join him for dinner and share in some of his favourite – and most unusual – dishes. It’s always a treat for all the senses.
Inside the Abbey Hotel, Rupert Taylor’s new menu in Allium Restaurant introduces signature dishes that give a twist to the classics; chicken liver parfait with rhubarb, beer-battered haddock with pea tartare and saffron infused tagliatelle. Desserts are equally impressive with highlights including poached rhubarb with jasmine, pistachio cake, green tea crumble and rhubarb sorbet or burnt English custard with marinated strawberries and black pepper honeycomb.
In the heart of Georgian Bath, this stylish spot is the perfect place to enjoy lazy lunches, afternoon cocktails or after-work drinks.
