ASEAN Fashion Designer Showcase | Taking The Stage By Storm

Taking the stage by storm with an exciting display of cross cultural fashion at this year’s ASEAN Fashion Designers Showcase

The 2nd instalment of ASEAN Fashion Designers Showcase (AFDS) and the Signature creative collections of more than 18 fashion designers across the regions were unveiled and took the stage by storm at Beast & Butterflies, M Social in Singapore.

Designed by Hayden Ng

Following the great debut success last year, this year’s turnout was astonishing, with over hundred invited guests gracing the highly anticipated event. An original showcase conceptualized by local fashion designer extraordinaire, Hayden Ng in August 2015, AFDS is a melting pot of various unique and carefully curated couture designs and ready to wear collections by established ASEAN designers.AFDS was created with an aim to help raise awareness and appreciation for the fashion industry in the ASEAN regions and to promote greater cross-cultural and creative collaboration while achieving mainstream regional awareness for fashion designers and models.

To excite and spike things up at this year’s showcase, each designer has an exclusive pop up store in their suite room showcasing their collection from creative, couture to wearable fashion pieces. Guests were allowed to try and purchase the pieces as shown on the runway right after the show. Designer apparels and accessories were donned by more than 20 veteran local and overseas models on the runway in celebration of the unique styles and diversity from differentdesigners around the ASEAN region. With the belief in AFDS’s vision, all models participating in the runway show are contributing on a pro bono basis. This collaboration was first initiated by AFDS to invite veteran and overseas models to part take in the runway as AFDS’s designers believe that apparels should not only be portrayed by the youth asdressing has no age limits. Many celebrity models from Laos, Thailand, Indonesia and Philippines specially flew in to participate in the runway show. AFDS is also proud to have the support of its regional partners, LT PRO and Sabrina Chong to make this a successful event.

LT PRO has always been a part of major fashion events, such as Jakarta Fashion Week 2009, Surabaya Fashion Parade, Hong Kong Fashion Week 2013 and many more. With the understanding that every women must look at their best and being the trusted leading decorative make-up brand in South East Asia, LT PRO transformed the models and brought the best runway look out of them with their magic hands. Having found a creative and fashion enterprise in the virtual world, Sabrina Chong brought out the uniqueness of AFDS through her one of a kind designs. The identity and vision of AFDS can be seen on all graphic works and its logo. Both LT PRO and Sabrina Chogn came onboard the AFDS family in February 2017 for #AFDSJKT17.

Many audiences around the world are able to witness the event despite not being at the show, as AFDS had a live streaming of the runway show via Runway Moda, a platform that reaches out to 100,000 across the globe. This platform also allows viewers to purchase the runway pieces from the AFDS designers immediately. In addition to the success of AFDS 2017, AFDS is glad to add three new designer members to its family. At a fashion event held by The Luxury Network earlier this year, Hayden was invited to be one of the judges. The three graduate designers from Singapore were given the opportunity to be mentored by Hayden and bring Singapore fashion out to the region. Following the AFDS show at Singapore, the next AFDS project will be held at Laos; Lao Fashion Week in September 2017, and Thailand in December 2017.
