Cecconi’s Barcelona | The Finest Italian Brunch
Seemingly to Samantha Jones in one of the episodes of Sex and the City, many desperately try to become members of the exclusive private club Soho House. This prestigious establishment is present in main cities around the world and it is well known for being a place of recreation and relax to its creative audience, as well as for its outstanding facilities and great service.
Soho House Barcelona is not an exception to that. It is very conveniently located at the Gothic Quarter, still in the city center but at the coast line, surrounded by the most incredible historical monuments and with astonishing views over the Mediterranean Sea. Although Soho House is an only members club, it also offers to general public some of the most hedonistic amenities such as the Hotel, the Cowshed Spa and their iconic fine Italian Restaurant Cecconi’s.
A majestic and light space with high ceilings filled up with warmth, unique charm and personality opens up to you. It is fancy but not too formal, elegant and yet trendy – a perfect combination for those who appreciate a relaxed atmosphere paired with upscale service. Of course you can enjoy their wonderful lunch and dinner but their brunch on Sundays is absolutely a must and certainly becoming very fashionable in Barcelona. Everyone is invited to Cecconi’s brunch but under one condition, to make a reservation at least one week in advance.
The Sunday atmosphere at the restaurant feels familiar, cozy and relaxed. Guests are a mix of tourists, locals and international people like us that decided to make Barcelona our new home. The brunch concept at Cecconi’s is – all you can eat – American style with a refine twist; it is a feast of Mediterranean cuisine for all tastes and palates. It starts with brunch’s classics: Mimosa, made from cava and fresh squeezed orange juice, and Bellini, a sweet mix of white peach and refreshing bubbles.
Barcelona is famous for its Mediterranean seafood and quality products. In expectation of that and to indulge yourself in all the culinary pleasures that Chef Alessi has created, we were excited for this experience. A long and grand marble table that has behind all the Chefs in action, preparing their best dishes just in front of your eyes… needless to say how fantastic the smell is. This bar is filled with Fresh Seafood, more than five types of Benedict Eggs, Italian classics such as Risotto, Pizza and Lasagna and of course a butchery stand filled with Premium Italian Ham and Salami, six different types of artisan bread and a wide offer of Sicilian Cheese. Not to mention the main courses they also have like the “Suc Kling Pig”, homemade sausages and tender Meat Balls.
If you are a light eater and you prefer to keep it healthy, or you are vegetarian, Cecconi’s is also your place. They have wide Fresh Salad Menu, including a tasty kale salad and our favorite, the “Puntarelle Parmigiana Salad”, fruits and fresh made vegetables in different presentations.
From all the dishes we had the pleasure to enjoy, I will share with you that I just found my favorite pizza in Barcelona, an amazing new interest for salads, passion for fruits and a new esthetic point of view for desserts; they don’t only have to taste amazingly, they need to look as good as they are.
The personnel is very attentive, helpful and caring, they are constantly offering you their assistance and anything you need in more than four different languages, at least for what I could hear. All the dishes are homemade, including the desserts and bread, “Everything is freshly made from top quality products from Italy and Spain, that’s how we control the quality,” explains Tony Rosa, one of the supervisors.
Needless to say that we do recommend the Cecconi’s Sunday Brunch to all good food lovers and hedonist souls that finds pleasure in small great things, like a romantic rendezvous with your soul mate or a perfect celebration of life on Sunday with family and friends. The first mimosa is compliments of the house in a unique sophisticated, quiet and elegant venue.
