Alila Solo | Sustainability In Hospitality

Alila Solo takes the leadership position in sustainability.

In recognition of its environmentally sustainable operations, Alila Solo has achieved Bronze Certification from EarthCheck, widely regarded as the world’s most scientifically rigorous environmental management program designed specifically for the travel and tourism industry.

“This Bronze Certification represents an important milestone in Alila Solo’s commitment to social, cultural and environmental responsibilities, which we regard as essential for sustainable business. It’s a great motivation for our team who are committed to effecting positive environmental change while creating memorable experiences for our guests,” said Alasdair Davidson, General Manager of Alila Solo.

Tourism is a $1.4 trillion industry that directly affects the destinations operated within. The very environmental values and cultural assets that attract visitors to destinations need to be protected and responsibly managed. The tourism industry and its operators are key to creating this change and resolving some of the very real issues that face the planet.

Stewart Moore, CEO of EarthCheck, said, “I would like to congratulate the whole team at Alila Solo on their achievement. Alila Solo is a valued member of a global group of tourism operators who dare to make a difference.”

In all activities, Alila Solo aims to respect and preserve the local way of life and traditions, and adheres to a policy of environmental sustainability to minimize its impact on the environment. The hotel has embraced environmentally sustainable design principles, including the use of local, sustainable and recycled materials, and the integration of environmental, energy and resource-efficient systems, while a green-buying policy and employing the majority of staff from the local area, help to support local producers and communities.
