Matty Bovan – Our Revolution
Matty Bovan presents his first solo show for the Fall/Winter 2018 collection during Women’s London Fashion Week 2018 – an extraordinary event sponsored by one of the World’s finest United Arab Emirates airline Etihad Airways.
There is a different world no one else has seen; it is hidden in a parallel space where we, as post-apocalyptic creatures, live in complete multi-dimensional utopia. Matty Bovan is one of them – an emerging designer from York who has been waiting to turn fashion upside down in his very first solo show at the London Fashion week 2018. His collection is unique, raw and provocative. After spending his childhood dying fabrics and cutting up clothes into unusual shapes he creates brave designs and though provocative pieces that lead us to admire the results of an experimental character set free to create and explore beyond traditional boundaries. His latest collection is devoted to his grandmother and encapsulates themes such strength, independence and the confidence of women. While respecting the past, it is a tribute to the future, reshaping the world for the new generation – a revolution that Millennials have been ready for.
The collection showcased asymmetric cut and multi-colored bouclé fabrics with interwoven gold and silver threads that turned regular tweed into elegant fabrics, ideally suited for the revolutionary couture style ball gowns, finished with simple vanilla creams, fusion reds and black silk organza petticoats and raw knit nets.
Eye-catching tulip shaped trousers in sheen organza and wool fabrics were worn with matching tweed boots complimenting each look with an added sense of individuality. Radical balloon headpieces symbolizing the emotional weight of the world one carries around was an expressive and challenging concept added to selected looks. It’s radical, different and brave, and without a doubt, one of the most original turn-outs this city of fashion has seen. And we love it!
