Conrad Maldives Rangali Island | Luxury In Harmony With Nature
Celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year, the award-winning Conrad Maldives Rangali Island continues to pioneer luxury, design and innovation.
One of the Maldives’ leading luxury resorts and one of Hilton Worldwide’s flagship properties, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island was the first international hotel brand to open in The Maldives and the first hotel in the world to launch an undersea restaurant. Comprising two islands, 150 luxurious villas and suites, 12 restaurants and bars, and two spas, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is a space that invites and inspires with an innovative and distinctive design that sits in perfect harmony with the natural environment. The design ensures the utmost privacy and encourages guests to connect with nature and culture; a blueprint that was particularly bold and prescient twenty years ago with the trend for today’s luxury traveller looking for a heightened and more authentic, local and cultural experience.
The resort’s clever spilt island design ensures its enduring popularity with couples, honeymooners and families alike, whilst also offering three distinct resort experiences.
Here, traveling is as much about the journey as about the destination and, importantly, how guests live in any given moment. Learn how to make dim sum and handmade noodles in the celebrity chef restaurant, go stargazing or on a turtle safari, or learn about the rich marine ecosystem that calls the South Ari Atoll home whilst being personally guided on a snorkelling trip around the surrounding coral gardens. These are Inspired Experiences guests can take home with them, each reflecting a local take on culture, food, and adventure, to give a unique perspective of the resort and destination through meaningful and authentic connections.
- Rangalifinolhu is the larger, more family-oriented island of the resort. As well as being the starting point for all water sports and cruises, there is an infinity pool and children’s pool, and a number of restaurants. The Beach Villas, Deluxe Beach Villa, Beach Suite and Junior Beach Suites are designed for families, with each of the Villas sleeping a family of four.
- Rangali Island is the smaller, adults-only island, providing a more private getaway where couples can enjoy a romantic time together. The highlights of Rangali Island are its intimate and innovative over-water villas and over-water spa experiences, as well as fine dining.
- The Spa Retreat and Retreat Water Villas / Family Water Villas – the third resort experience is at The Spa Retreat, an over-water and award-winning destination spa that operates as a resort-within-a-resort and features family and retreat over-water villas and a restaurant which serves organic spa cuisine. The Spa Retreat is set 100m off the tip of the main island and has glass-floored treatment rooms. A holistic spa experience with a range of luxurious therapies and lifestyle classes is on offer, including indulgent treatment rituals for couples using precious oils, colors and crystals.
- Family Water Villas – Sleeping a family of four in two separate bedrooms, the Family Water Villa is an ideal choice for those travelling with children or friends. The master bedroom houses a king size bed, whilst the second bedroom offers guests two twin beds in their own enclosed space. The Family Water Villas have a Jacuzzi and ample outdoor space in which to relax and soak up the Maldivian sunshine.
The preeminent dining destination in the Maldives, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island has 12 award-winning restaurants and bars including the world’s first undersea restaurant and the Maldives’ first celebrity Chinese restaurant. Children’s menus are available in Atoll Market, Sunset Grill, Mandhoo Spa Restaurant, Vilu Restaurant, Rangali Bar and Ithaa Undersea Restaurant (lunch service only).
Ufaa (‘happiness’ in Maldivian) by celebrated Chef Jereme Leung is an innovative Chinese culinary concept highlighting the iconic flavours from the distinctive cultures and provinces across China. It was awarded Best Asian Cuisine’ in the World Luxury Restaurant Awards 2017, in both the ‘Global’ and ‘Continent’ categories.
Atoll Market has a soft sand floor and outdoor tables under a garden of scented frangipani trees making this a total interactive sensory experience of sound, scent, vision, taste and touch, with eight open show kitchens offering international cuisine. Spectacularly ‘sunk’ five metres below the surface of the Indian Ocean, Ithaa Undersea Restaurant sits like a pearl beneath the waves (Ithaa is ‘pearl’ in the Maldivian language of Dhivehi), the curved acrylic walls providing 180-degree panoramic views of the surrounding lagoon, reefs and tropical fish.
Tucked behind the award-winning Vilu Restaurant and Bar, The Wine Cellar is the first of its kind in the Maldives and features up to 20,000 bottles of wine and a 1,400 label wine list showcasing winemakers from some of the world’s best vineyards. Guests can descend two metres underground and be treated to a dinner and an interactive journey through old and new world wine regions; this is hosted by the executive chef and chief sommelier who skillfully match a five-course menu and up to eight hand-picked wines.
The resort’s Fitness Centre offers impressive views of the ocean and coco palms. The gym provides the latest cardio equipment and the personal assistance of internationally qualified instructors. Amongst the other fitness facilities, there is an open-air meditation pavilion on the beach for private and group yoga sessions, as well as two infinity swimming pools and an outdoor tennis court. Watersports activities available include catamaran sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, wakeboarding, knee boarding, kayaking and the exciting Jet Pack.
The Majaa Kids Club is conceived to enable children aged 3-12 to learn whilst playing and having fun. They can learn to speak Dhivehi, go on a scavenger hunt, do arts and drama, learn about the marine environment, snorkel or practice yoga. With the exception of some activities, Majaa is complimentary and open every day between 08.30 – 19.00. The team at Majaa has undergone extensive training from leading childcare consultants Worldwide Kids Company based in London.
A new #InstaTrail around the resort, with knowledgeable ‘Instagram Butlers’ helps guests discover the most picturesque locations, perfect their dream shot, or capture the magical ‘golden hour’, the period shortly after sunset or before sunrise. Guests can tee up their tour with a yoga class directed by the resort’s resident yogi where they will be taught the best poses to capture on camera set against a myriad of ocean hues. Instagrammers can also take part in a curated list of 1, 3 and 5 hour itineraries provided by the resort as part of the brand’s ‘Stay Inspired’ initiative. Watch and capture images of shooting stars for one hour under the stars of the world-class Astro-tourism site; induce food envy amongst followers whilst learning how to make dumplings at celebrity chef restaurant Ufaa by Jereme Leung in a three hour cookery class; or go island-hopping through the local atolls and connect with Maldivian culture in a five hour itinerary.
For travellers combining business with pleasure, the resort offers a fully functional business centre, and complimentary WiFi is available throughout the resort.
Conrad Maldives Rangali Island continuously strives to improve its environmental surroundings and is committed to social responsibility and sustainable tourism practices from employing staff, to sourcing products and services as locally as possible.
