Little Beach House Barcelona | Inspiration By The Sea

A place where fellows from the creative industries can treat themselves into an oasis of calm and find inspiration by the sea.

Only a 30-minute drive away from Barcelona, we find a former’s fishing settlement where time seems to have stopped. Perhaps it’s the access through an 86-curve road along the coastline, or its charming location, embraced by the rugged mountains in the backdrop and the sea at its feet. It is in this place, where Nick Jones, founder of the exclusive member’s only club Soho House, has found the beauty and precise conditions to establish one of his latest projects: Little Beach House Barcelona. A place where fellows from the creative industries can treat themselves into an oasis of calm and find inspiration by the sea.

Back in the 50’s, former Hotel Quim was built to host tourist and visitors seeking the Mediterranean sun while enjoying the privilege of a picturesque landscape: a 380-meter long beach surrounded by nature and accommodating a row of charming little beach wooden houses. Now, and after many years inoperative, this “with-washed” building has been rediscovered to treasure a “House” including 17 bedrooms, a club lounge, a restaurant, a bar and a roof-top with seamless sea views.

Always truthful to their philosophy and design language, the creative team of Soho House has conceived the overall design of “The House” with Spanish and Catalan influences, while respecting some features of the former hotel. The exterior has preserved the color palette of the neighboring emblematic beach houses, with white and green as the predominant façade colors. The interior consists of a cohesive set of crafted architectural and decorative elements that naturally convey the singular personality of any Soho House: geometric tiling, tailor-made rugs, locally handcrafted ceramic lamps and vintage sofas or tapestries created by the artist Maryanne Moodie are some of the elements that contribute to the single atmosphere of this new place to be. From inside out, “The House” blends effortlessly with the surroundings.

The first contact with “The House” takes place within the reception, which is located in the main floor. It is here the characteristic friendly staff from the house will welcome you to what is going to be a stay with a unique personality. Low sofas, white stucco walls and some color touches that resemble the former hotel, distinguish this area which directly connects with the restaurant: a cozy and light space for up to 80 guest that includes an open kitchen with a wood-burning oven and a counter with daily fresh fish. Rice, seafood and traditional Mediterranean proposals are among the top choices of the menu. The restaurant also encompasses an outdoor living, in which epicenter, arises a fire place surrounded by plants and super comfortable armchairs.  In terms of design, green terrazzo flooring extends throughout the floor of this area and the wooden bar and chairs as a well as the tables, are replicas from the original 50’s building. Such essence and style, splurge all over “The House”.

The living area has direct access to two of the most magical areas of “The House”: in one side, a seducive spiral staircase leads to “The Roof”, just the ideal setting to delight in a glass of wine while conversating with like-minded people as the sun goes down. And in the other side, a stair path that takes you to the private beach with its fantastic stylish stripped hammocks and balinese-like parasols, enjoyable both, during the day or on a romantic relaxing cocktail evening. To make any member’s visit even better, “The House” organizes outdoor activities with daily classes that include HIIT 3 and yoga.

The 17 rooms of “The House”, which range in size from small to medium, are distributed throughout two floors. Moreover, the majority of them are facing the seaside and include a private balcony. While the smaller rooms may have the inconvinient of a smaller interior space, they gain in quality by having a terrace that include an outdoor bathtub and astonishing views of the Garraf hills. Nevertheless, the jewel of the crown is the beach studio with its beautiful and original wooden beams. Here, the special guests can enjoy the privilege of a large double-height space composed by a living area and a kitchen, the bedroom and a great private terrace that also counts with an outdoor bathtub, loungers, dining areas and unparalleled sea views.
