BROXTON LA | Bringing People Together

West Los Angeles’s hidden gem, Westwood, is one of the wealthiest residential neighborhoods in the city. It is also home to the 1919 University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), Memorial Park Cemetery the resting place of many notable entertainers, Hammer Museum with its artist-centric and progressive array of exhibitions, and the Geffen Playhouse, known for performances by film and television actors. The first building to be erected in 1929 is known as the Janss Dome, built as the Company’s headquarters and located at the five-way intersection of Westwood Boulevard, Kinross Avenue and Broxton Avenue. Broxton LA, a community brewery and public house opened in this most historic and iconic building that is composed by a high portico, arched windows, octagonal shape, signature dome, Moorish style aqua and white zig-zag pattern and gold leafing making this edifice architecturally breathtaking.

Artisanal Brewers Collective (ABC), believe every neighborhood deserves a great brewpub, have chosen the location well. The 4100-square foot buildings soaring ceilings, concrete floors, wooden accents and dark blue upholstery are warm and welcoming. The large U-shaped bar surrounds the focal point of the restaurant, a 7-barrel stainless-steel brewery which allows diners a birds-eye view of the brewing process.  The huge windows bring in natural light, exposed rafters inside the highest point of the dome create a rustic, natural feel.

Communal tables and televisions on the first floor make this a perfect place to dine alone or watch a game with friends. On the patio, a living wall adds a pop of greenery and a peaceful vibe. Square wood table tops with shady umbrellas will make it the perfect place to enjoy an outdoor meal, a house made beer, a refreshing cocktail or play one of the classic board games provided.  If you desire a more subdued dining experience, make your way to the second floor overlooking the dining room and brewery below.  For a truly cozy evening reserve a seat at the coveted “crows’ nest,” a secluded two-top table overlooking the bar. As for the food, Broxton LA has embraced the traditional “meat and three” idea, where diners get one protein, plus side salads, and a biscuit.  Enjoy a variety of comforting staples like the crunchy-topped Mac n’ Cheese Skillet with fusilli and pickled jalapeños and the Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich served on brioche with vinegary slaw, mayo and pickles. California comfort food requires Vegetarian and Vegan items such as Blackened Tofu with a garlic glaze, Charred Chimi Cauliflower served with pickled sweet peppers and The Big Mohawk made with double stacked Impossible meat patties.  Focusing on the freshest locally sourced ingredients with a West Coast touch, the food will not disappoint!
