Winston|Baker’s 11th New York TV & Film Finance Forum, which took place on April 24, 2019, at the Dream Hotel Downtown, as usual, had an exciting lineup of speakers and panels. This year’s event was presented in association with the New York Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME).

The NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) comprises four divisions: the Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting which coordinates film and television production throughout the five boroughs; NYC Media, the largest municipal television and radio broadcasting entity in the country with a reach of 18 million viewers within a 50-mile radius; workforce and educational initiatives in film, television, theater, music, publishing, advertising and digital content to support the development of NYC’s creative industries, which account for over 305,000 jobs, and an economic output of $104 billion.

Winston| Baker produces conferences across the US, Europe, Pacific Asia, China, and Latin America for the entertainment industry with the goal to cultivate game-changing ideas and new business relationships.

Keynote Speakers at the New York event covering the creative side were Academy Award-winning screenwriter Alexander Dinelaris, award-winning producer and principal of Cinetic Media John Sloss, and Lia Buman of Tango Entertainment. Leading entertainment finance expert Marshall Sonenshine talked about the state of the showbusiness industry.  

On the Revenue Stream Revolution panel,  Dia Simms of Combs Enterprises (Diddy Combs’ conglomerate), Joe Sabia of Condé Nast Entertainment as well as Jennifer Cron of Eko and Dominic Ianno, EVP of Whistle, New Initiatives & Content Finance presented various business models from ad-supported networks to subscription offerings and how new forms of content are being funded.

The speakers provided a wealth of information with presentations about M&A strategies exploring what entertainment industry buyers are looking for as well as discussions about the art, science, and business of storytelling and producing award-winning films at the right budget.

The company’s founders Katherine Winston and Amy Baker create their own programs that allow them to offer customized events such as workshops, seminars, networking receptions, and more for their clients.
