Walking into Ocean Prime the anticipation for a special experience is heightened as you approach the reception desk which gives the impression you are checking into a luxury spa. The restaurant spans 11,400 square feet and seats 350 guests, it includes the main dining room with sophisticated decor; a sizable terrace with umbrellas and fire pits; three private dining rooms; two bars along with a sushi bar. Although quite large space remains luxurious and inviting. Wood-paneling covers the walls, a large window showcases the open kitchen allowing you to observe all the action.
Ocean Prime’s recently released cocktails are perfect for welcoming the warm weather. Some highlights are the Black Orchid made with Belvedere Vodka, St. Germaine Elderflower Liqueur, Hand Squeezed Lemon and White Cranberry Juice; the Blood Orange Old Fashioned made with Bulleit Rye, Blood Orange Purées, Honey Water, Whiskey Barrel Aged Bitters; a true head turner is the signature smoking cocktail, Berries and Bubbles, made with Belvedere Citrus Vodka, Marinated Blackberries, House Made Sour, Domaine Chandon Brut, Dry Ice Smoke.
Starters include the delicate Goat Cheese Ravioli; the sweet, tangy and crunchy Calamari; beautifully presented Ahi Tuna Tartare; and not to be missed is a variety of signature hand-rolled sushi. The raw bar features Oysters, Shrimp Cocktail and a custom built “Smoking” Shellfish Tower, a huge assortment of shellfish and seafood! The French Onion Soup is superb, and the collection of salads are loaded with delights.
The extensive seafood menu is selected daily for freshness and features wild and naturally harvested fish. Notable choices are the Blackened Striped Bass served with corn spoon bread and a jalapeño tartar; Sea Scallops accompanied by Parmesan risotto and English peas, the Twin Lobster Tails and King Crab Legs both served with asparagus and drawn butter, simple and savory. Roasted Chicken, Pork Porterhouse and Lamb Chops also make their appearance on the menu and are as good as anywhere in Los Angeles. The Prime Steaks, ranging from a 6oz Filet Mignon to a 16oz Ribeye, are aged for maximum tenderness, perfectly seasoned, and broiled at 1200 degrees locking in the natural juices and flavor. Don’t forget to accessorize your entree with a Béarnaise Sauce, Wild Mushrooms & Brie, or Garlic Shrimp Scampi!
A highlight of any steakhouse are the side dishes! Some favorites include Smoke Gouda Tater Tots, Bacon Creamed Spinach and the decadent Black Truffle Mac & Cheese. The desserts are equally impressive and delicious! The Ten Layer Carrot Cake is ten layers of heavenly goodness, the Warm Butter Cake with fresh berries and vanilla ice cream is excellent.
