Amidst the hustle and bustle of life , know this – there is absolutely no guilt in feeling luxurious

We are living in a world that is in constant state of interruption. Before the morning even starts, we are bombarded by ‘urgent’ emails, errand reminders, and running around completing meaningless tasks. Before going to bed, we sit and worry about the troubles that tomorrow might bring. Having the time to just take a breath and unwind seems like too much of a luxury nowadays. All too often, we are bogged down with simply ‘too much to do and too little time to do it’.

Often we feel hard-pressed, even guilty, to find a moment in a day just for me, myself and I. Amidst the hustle and bustle of life, know this – there is absolutely no guilt in feeling luxurious. Your body and mind are a sacred temple, and it should be treated as so.

Famous fashion designer L’Wren Scott once said that ‘luxury is a state of mind’ – I want to go one step further and say that luxury is and should be treated as a lifestyle.

Feeling anxious for the day ahead? Take 30 minutes to meditate your worries away. That, is luxury.

Feeling burnt out from all the good work that you have been doing? Treat yourself with a relaxing spa treatment, or visit an upcoming art exhibition to discover your muse. That, is luxury.

Dreading to cook dinner after a long day? Treat yourself with a trip along with your loved ones to a newly-opened restaurant. That, is luxury.

Simple things like taking a break and giving yourself tiny rewards are essential for treating yourself like luxury. Contrary to popular belief, having a luxurious lifestyle does not necessarily mean that you need to shell out the big bucks all the time – it just means that you are mindful about the choices you make and how you spend your time meaningfully for a life you would be happy to call your own.

We aim for the stars but little do we know, the only star we need is already in us. Treat yourself – you are the embodiment of luxury.
